Braille
The goals of RHYW are to generate Braille that is:
- Accurate
- Low cost
- Available quickly, and in most cases at the same time as the materials are published
- Adequately contracted, so that it has an acceptable length
The process is done in three stages:
- The checking is done prior to Braille conversion – the text is checked to make sure it is accurate. The XML file is also checked to ensure it is accurately marked up into XML.
- The text is converted to Braille.
- The Braille is formatted.
RHYW is developing a house style for Braille that can support automated transcription whilst maintaining accuracy. The details of the house style are set out in the General Transcriber’s Notes in each Braille book we generate. The following page contains the General Transcriber’s Notes
